Meet
Businesswoman/Creative
Barb Wagner
Five years ago, Barb Wagner was living in Boston and had just started
graduate school at Harvard when she took a vacation to the Caribbean to
visit her parents. She hadn’t planned on meeting her soulmate there. But
she did and three months later, Ralph joined her in Boston. A year later,
Barb took a break from her work in pharmaceutical and laboratory medicine,
and she and Ralph spent two years sailing around the Caribbean.
They returned to New Jersey, where Barb had property, and resumed
their work lives – Ralph as an emergency room RN, Barb in an area of
pharmaceutical medicine that develops clinical protocols and grants in
psychiatry and neurology. Since Barb telecommutes, when her company
relocated her to the southeast, she chose St. Petersburg as her home
base.
Although she and Ralph both work full-time, they are starting up another
business. BDLS of Florida teaches planning and preparing for and the
development of infrastructures for natural and/or manmade disasters. First
responders, who receive CME credits for participating, are the company’s
current primary focus.
Barb and Ralph have a sailboat and a motorboat docked behind their
waterfront home and enjoy boating their way to dinner, concerts or to
watch fireworks. Barb’s creative urges find an outlet in watercolor
painting, cooking, reading and writing, including writing about her
two-year adventure in the Caribbean.
