Medical facilities such
as hospitals are required to store patient records for 7 years but
most hospitals only have space enough to store 1-1/2 year’s worth.
So they call Elite Records and Suzanne Spigner and her carefully
trained staff go to the facility, box up and code the records, and
take them to Elite’s 32,000-square-foot warehouse for storage.
Suzanne’s other business, Charts in Time, provides staff who do:
contract coding, record purging and shifting, and physician
dictation.
Elite Records is the only locally
based company that provides health records management. This means that all
revenues stay in the community, one of the benefits of a locally owned and
operated business.
Suzanne has a degree in health
information management and got much of her experience in medical records at St.
Joseph’s and St. Anthony’s hospitals. When she started her own business managing
and storing medical records in 1999, she called on her old employers to let them
know her service was available. Business got off to a good start and now she
employs 15 people full-time.
Suzanne was born and raised in Tampa
and her mom and stepfather work with her in the business, as they near
retirement. Suzanne enjoys life with three cats in the Crescent Lake area of St.
Pete and enjoys bowling and playing golf.
