Meet 'Basic' Trainer Gloria Campbell
Gloria Campbell combined passions
when she bought a building, renovated it, and opened Advantage
Training Systems (ATS) in South St. Petersburg. “I saw it as
an opportunity to renew the area,” Gloria says. ATS teaches
basic computer skills, customer service and medical billing to
lower-income clients. Many who come seeking job training also
need the human touch that Gloria provides, such as mothering,
nurturing, and encouraging.
City officials consider Gloria
locating her business in Midtown significant because a
successful, private business will encourage others to do the
same. Gloria’s past work experience in corporate training,
management, sales, and teaching gave her the know-how and
confidence to start up and operate ATS, a successful
nonprofit.
