Meet
Business Builder Elizabeth Boyle
Elizabeth Boyle loved the job that brought her to Florida in 1999
from her native state of Maryland. Managing a 250-seat credit card
processing center, some 300 people reported to her. She had the
experience, it was a move up, and she enjoyed the work. Still, the
entrepreneurial urge motivated her to start up her own business.
“I wanted more contact with clients and I wanted to use my
background in project management to be more involved in different
kinds of marketing,” Elizabeth says. “And, I was tired of
working for someone else.”
Elizabeth originally started The Bay Resource Group as a
consulting business, particularly for banks. Business blossomed
quickly and she started getting requests for marketing advice,
which she incorporated into her business plan – just one of the
many times she changed her plans to respond to market needs.
“I’ve learned you have to be open to change and see where the
market is pulling you and then determine what services of value
you have to offer,” Elizabeth says.
Indeed, a couple of years later, she identified another critical
need in the marketplace, especially for small, start-up
businesses: part-time COO services. The Bay Resource Group became
one of only a few firms that specialize in providing part-time
chief operating officers on an hourly basis. Some companies hire
TBRG to assume responsibilities they cannot fulfill with existing
skills or resources. Through monthly meetings and weekly phone and
e-mail communication, Elizabeth provides the insight and oversight
to keep their business operating smoothly. Others hire TBRG to
design and implement systems that make their business more
structured and organized. Still others take advantage of TBRG’s
top-notch managing and training services, or assistance with
designing, developing and hosting their Web sites.
“I love helping entrepreneurs build their businesses,”
Elizabeth says. “I especially enjoy mentoring and utilizing the
professional skills and sharpened instinct I’ve acquired.”
Besides helping people grow their business, Elizabeth’s other
passion in life revolves around Harley-Davidson motorcycles, which
she shares with her entire family. Her husband of 23 years
recently fulfilled a long-held dream and opened up his own
Harley-Davidson customized bike shop in north Pinellas. Their
20-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter love to ride, too.
Elizabeth and her husband both grew up on farms and, while they
miss the farming communities, they like it here, too – they can
ride the bike year round and they like their neighbors. “When
you are used to living on 250 acres, suddenly living on less than
half an acre can be tough. It has made all the difference that we
really like our neighbors and consider them to be friends.”
